On Saturday 10th March, the club will be hosting the CRFC Charity Pub Quiz for the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity, which will also include a Charity Auction. Chiswick centurion and former minis coach, Alastair Pickering will be hosting the event, as he attempts to raise funds for his 2018 London Marathon run.
CRY is a very worthy cause which the club is proud to support Alastair in his efforts. The fundraising will be in memory of Alastair’s beloved sister, Hannah who passed away suddenly in May 2011 whilst studying Drama at Warwick University. With this family’s strong ties to the club, many fondly remember Hannah as a wonderful, kind person who is missed greatly by her family and all of her friends. Als is also running in memory of Oliver Thompson, a schoolmate of his, Ben Cattliff and Matthew Pickering’s, and an incredibly athletic individual who died in similar circumstances to Hannah in July 2013. His family have kindly allowed Als to mention him in fundraising – they have raised a significant amount in Ollie’s memory for CRY.
Entries to “the Chis Quiz” are £10 per person including food, with a maximum of 6 per team. The evening will kick off at 8pm (which follows the England vs. France game – see below) and will include:
- Pub Quiz
- Charity Auction and Raffle
All club members are invited, but please reserve a spot or a team in advance. This can be completed by together or individually paying the £10 on Als’ sponsorship page – https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-portal/fundraiserPage?pageId=841542. Please reference CRFC Quiz in the comment! Seating will be arranged for the evening, so please help us set-up during the evening. The clubhouse will be open, but those not taking part are requested to please respect the fundraiser.
For any further information, please message Ben/Wee Man (email@example.com) and Als (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please feel welcome to make a supportive donation too, if you would like to donate more. Also, we need auction donations! Any donations for prizes are greatly appreciated. Please get in contact via the above addresses if you can be so kind.
The quiz will directly follow the 6 Nations Round 4 fixtures, with France vs. England the headline and Ireland vs. Scotland earlier in the day.
The England game will kick off at around ~5:15/5:30pm! Yes, slightly delayed but this is to allow local away fixtures to return to the clubhouse so the club can watch the game together following the home games. On the day at home, the 1st XV vs. Tabard, 2nd XV vs. HAC and 4th XV vs. Uxbridge, with the 3rd XV are away vs. Hanwell.
