1s and 2s Come Up Short, But Good Wins for 3s and 4s

On a windy day across the UK, Chiswick’s top two sides fell to defeat but the 3s and 4s ensured the Club had something to celebrate at the annual Oktoberfest party.

The 1XV succumbed to a good HAC side, but once again mainly had themselves to blame for the loss as another poor performance at Riverside Lands sees them continue to search for a first home win this season. On what should have been a day to remember for new Centurion Gabs Lowe – marking his 100th cap with a start at Full Back – defence errors and an inability to get a hold of the ball were key drivers in 5-36 loss. This was the first time this season that Chiswick game away without a single point, and the new coaching staff will be looking for a strong response as they head to League leaders Harpenden next weekend.

Elsewhere, the 2s were on the wrong end of a 39-29 scoreline, away to London Cornish, but the 3s put in a good performance to beat Feltham 19-10 and maintain their good start to the season, whilst the 4s put Grasshoppers away with an emphatic 60-17 victory.

Chiswick 1XV 5 – 36 HAC

London Cornish 39 – 29 Chiswick 2XV

Chiswick 3XV 19 – 10 Feltham

Grasshoppers 17 – 60 Chiswick 4XV
