Chiswick RFC 2020 Combine

With the exciting news of the RFU moving the return to rugby from Stage C to Stage D. Coaches James Snape, Tom Doubleday, Matt Newman and James Filbey decided it was time to mix training up by announcing the first Chiswick RFC Combine on 2nd September. 40 lads took to the AGP with the music pumping and the front row looking nervous but all lads completed all events (bar club captain Gabs Lowe whose gout was playing up).

Events were designed to test speed, stamina and strength, including a 40m sprint, a 100kg sled pull and the infamous Bronco.

We were lucky to have great support from local businesses who sponsored prizes for the night, thank you to:

  • Bronco: 4m 31 seconds (Tom Steer)
  • 1km: 3m 19 seconds (Lewis Rutledge)
  • 10kg Shot putt: 315 inches/8 meters (Harry Ibe)
  • Horizontal Jump: 105 inches/2m 68cm (Dan Sutherland)
  • 40 meter sprint: 4.20 seconds (Ben Gerrard)
  • 100kg sled push: 130 meters (Iestyn Williams)
