It is with tremendous sadness that Chiswick RFC report the untimely departure of Past President, Past Chairman, ex-1st XV Captain and long time servant of the club, David Goodenough on Saturday 23rd May 2020 aged 74 years old.
Known to many as “Goose”, David originally joined the Old Meadonians (now Chiswick RFC) in the 1960s before moving to Rosslyn Park for a period. David also represented Middlesex County RFU – this was back when there was no professional game and county rugby was the level below international. He also toured with Middlesex, including to South Africa.
For anyone who has been a member of Old Meadonians or Chiswick RFC you will have come across Goose in some capacity. Be it as Chairman or President, roles he performed on multiple occasions, chauffeur to the 4th team in the 90s or simply hearing his vocal support on the sideline of most 1st XV home matches.
David has been a huge part of the club for decades and will be sorely missed.
Further details to follow, including more colour on David’s long association with the club. Condolences can be sent to email@example.com and they will be passed onto David’s family.
Our thoughts go out to Sue, Nick, James and their children.
