Keith King – Obituary

Keith (Ted) King 1941 – 2017

Ted joined the then Old Meadonians RFC in 1958 straight from Chiswick County Grammar School where he had been a regular in the 1st XV.

At the Club he played almost 450 games for the 1st XV (before substitutes) and numerous games in the lower sides during a long playing career.

He also served as Treasurer and then Secretary during significant periods of growth and development of the Club including two moves to new grounds.
The 25th anniversary celebrations in 1983 including a Dinner at Kempton Park were masterminded by him.

Following his administrative stints at the Club, he served the Middlesex County Union for over 30 years as Disciplinary Secretary, Treasurer and President (2001-2003)

He was a regular member of the ‘Strollers’ until he became ill.

He was a model of reliability and dependability and altogether a thoroughly good bloke! He was always very supportive of his team mates and his advice on all manner of things was valued, said typically in a few quiet words, but well thought through.

He was one of Rugby’s gentlemen.
