Luca Vannini Stands Down as 1st XV Skipper

After 3 Successful seasons as 1st XV Captain Luca Vannini has decided to stand down and concentrate on his playing duties.

lucaAs a skipper Luca was in charge of 76 league and cup games and has a record of 54 wins, 2 draws and 20 losses, this leaves him with a winning percentage of 74% and of course he will always be in the history books as the Captain that led us to the Middlesex Cup in 2013 and last Season led us into London 1 and took us on a Cup run that finished in defeat in the London & South East Final (effectively the qtr final stage).

Chiswick’s Director of Rugby Adrian Holie comments “Luca and I have been discussing this move for the last few weeks and he feels the time is right to step back and allow a new voice to be heard and hopefully listened to, we are lucky that he will still be in the background and part of our leadership group and once he has recharged his battery’s I am sure he will be on hand to offer any advice or words of wisdom to the new man in charge.”

“On a personal note I would like to thank Luca as he has been a big part of my five years at the club as 1st XV skipper but also off the field as a valued, loyal and committed member of Chiswick RFC and a close friend and confidant.”

An announcement on the new 1st XV Skipper and Manager and the 2nd XV Skipper will be made on Wednesday.
