Now the Summer is (finally) upon us, we write with a brief update on all things Chiswick Rugby…

SENIORS

The season concluded with our 1stXV securely positioned in mid-table. A strong start dissipated however our young squad are well-set for the season ahead with training commencing on 8th July. The 2ndXV firing on all cylinders throughout the season secured promotion in bizarre circumstances – following the suspension of London Scottish (fielding ineligible players) and Priorians being unable to muster a side for the finals day. The 2’s were frustrated to be denied their final but now look forward to the season ahead with excitement and intent. The Silverbacks concluded yet another hugely successful season, crowned League Champions for the fourth consecutive season (5 if covid gap excluded)! Recruitment work is ongoing with the aim of enhancing the existing squads, but also very much with an eye to the creation of additional senior sides as our Club continues to evolve.

YOUTH

Following a series of Festivals, the Minis concluded their season at the end of April with their traditional BBQ. With the summer recruitment fairs currently underway we look forward to welcoming many new arrivals for the season to come. Our Juniors concluded their season with the U14’s hosting the mighty Montpellier in early-May. A fabulous mornings’ rugby with Chiswick, Montpellier, Barnes, Ealing and Middlesex Barbarians (Girls) all in action. All followed by an afternoon of Awards and fun - enjoyed by many. Special note must go to the U15’s – the undefeated, indomitable U15’s that is – congratulations!

With the recent appointment of Gauthier de Beer as Head of Youth Development – exciting times lie ahead as our entire Youth section is further energised from U6’s onwards and the journey to re-establishing a Colts side (for the first time in a long while) continues!

And that’s it for the Summer – other than it’s not…
